Rescue Story 04/17/2013
On April 17, 2013, the Lake County Sheriff’s Department was able to locate a missing elderly man who wandered from his home, using SafetyNet Tracking tracking equipment. By activating tracking units both in the air and on the ground, officers with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department followed the signal emitting from the subject’s SafetyNet bracelet, locating him less than one hour after he was reported missing from his residence. The man, who was located in good condition, was walking in a residential area 4.25 miles from his home and was returned home by officers.
The SafetyNet Tracking service enables public safety agencies to more quickly find and rescue individuals with cognitive conditions who are prone to wandering and becoming lost. The service is comprised of a SafetyNet Bracelet worn by a client that emits Radio Frequency signals, which can be tracked by local public safety officials via their SafetyNet Search and Rescue Receivers.
